Former world champion and current boxing pundit Tony Bellew shared his thoughts on who would be the perfect opponent for British heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma.
According to Bellew, the ideal test for the 20-year-old would be former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz.
“The next fight that makes sense is someone like Andy Ruiz. He’s the perfect opponent. And Moses is guaranteed to get rounds against Ruiz.
Because under no circumstances can Moses step into a fight with Oleksandr Usyk without having gone more than six rounds. That’s impossible,” said Bellew.
On August 16, Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) stopped Dillian Whyte (31-4, 21 KOs) by first-round technical knockout.
Andy Ruiz (35-2-1, 22 KOs) last fought in August 2024, when he boxed to a draw against Jarrell Miller. Back in December 2019, Ruiz stunned the world by stopping Anthony Joshua in the seventh round, winning the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world titles.
