Bradley Tears Into Haney: “Nothing Scary About Him — One Shot and He’s Running”

Timothy Bradley / DAZN

Former world champion Timothy Bradley mocked Devin Haney’s nickname and criticized his attitude toward upcoming opponent Brian Norman Jr., the reigning WBO welterweight champion.

“Devin Haney — who came up with that nickname ‘Deebo Dev’? Bro, that’s the dumbest nickname I’ve ever heard. There’s nothing scary about Haney — he’s not intimidating at all. One or two punches, and he’s already running.

You’re calling your opponent a bum? Really? So you’re admitting you’re fighting a weak opponent? That’s just ridiculous. Seriously. I thought with your experience you’d have learned something by now. But come on, Dev — don’t you want people to respect you for your win? Even if you win, don’t you want credit for it?

I’ve heard the same nonsense before — the same boring rhetoric you used before the Ryan Garcia fight: ‘I’m on another level,’ ‘I’ve fought the best,’ ‘He’s not on my level.’ And then Ryan Garcia whooped your ass. Straight up. And it’s gonna happen again.

You haven’t learned anything. I’m telling you — you’ve got to learn to respect your opponents. Right now, you’re fighting a dark horse, a guy with nothing to lose. He’s got everything on the line, and all the pressure’s on you, Haney. Not on the champion — on you.

You’re moving up in weight to challenge him, thinking you’re better. But once you feel his power, your ass is gonna hop on that bicycle and start pedaling circles around the ring. I’m serious. You’ll switch not to tenth, but to eighteenth gear. Just running again, trying to survive.

Because listen — Brian Norman Jr. isn’t coming to play. He’s coming to knock you out. And if you get caught by that left hook again, it’s going to be Ryan Garcia 2.0. The same story. Only this time, the guy from Atlanta’s gonna teach you a lesson,” Bradley said.

The Haney vs. Norman fight is set for November 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking Devin Haney’s first bout in a new weight division.
