During a Premier Boxing Champions broadcast on Instagram, 35-year-old former world welterweight champion (up to 66.67 kg) Keith Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) shared his thoughts on a potential fight against the former undisputed champion in two divisions, Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs).
"It's hard to leave home. I feel very comfortable. Anyway, when it comes to fighting Crawford, right? People know Bud trains at high altitude, and I would never give a fighter such an advantage.
I heard that Josesito Lopez trained in Big Bear [California] when he was preparing to fight me, but I was too confident in that fight. So, I did what I did.
If I have to step into the ring with Crawford, I want it to be on level ground, baby. I'd want it to be at high altitude. I'd like my body to go through such a test.
It's something I've never included in my training regime. I've always said, 'if I fought Mayweather,' 'if I'm going to fight Spence,' 'I have to do this for Pacquiao.' 'If,' 'if,' 'should' – no.
It's something that's in my head, and I need to stop playing with these guys and give this sport the best I have," said Thurman.
Keith Thurman's next fight is scheduled for March 30 against Tim Tszyu (24-0, 17 KOs) in Las Vegas, USA.
