The WBA appointed Usyk a mandatory contender

The World Boxing Association (WBA) has named British WBA Regular heavyweight titleholder Daniel Dubois as the mandatory challenger to fight WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk.

It will be recalled that earlier the IBF obliged Oleksandr Usyk to defend his belt in a fight with the Croatian Filip Hrhgovych.

The head of Top Rank, Bob Arum, said that Hrgovych will not interfere with a unification fight between Usyk and the owner of the WBC belt, Tyson Fury.

Arum also told how the negotiations regarding the organization of the fight between Usyk and Fury are progressing, and Usyk's manager Egis Klimas stated that the negotiations regarding the fight for the title of absolute world champion in super heavyweight are nearing completion. The match could take place in February or early March next year.

The fight may be affected by the injury of the Briton, which he received in the fight with Derek Chisora. It is expected that Tyson will need 6-8 weeks to recover.
