The Usyk-Fury fight contract may include a rematch clause

Promoter Frank Warren has said that the world heavyweight title fight between WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk and WBC title holder Tyson Fury could include a rematch clause.

"We haven't gone into it, but I probably think there will be [a rematch clause] because, God forbid, someone has a health problem or something goes wrong - in boxing like we we know, anything can happen.

"There are four belts at stake, and they go to the winner. If there is a rematch, I don't think there will be four belts on the line, because it's unlikely that the governing bodies will allow it."

A unification fight between Usyk and Fury could take place in February or March next year. The manager of the Ukrainian, Aegis Klimas, said that the negotiations regarding the fight for the title of absolute world champion in super heavyweight are nearing completion. Oleksandr Krasiuk said that the most effective working date for the fight with Fury is March 4.

The conduct of the Usyk-Fury fight may be affected by the injury of the Briton, which he received in the fight with Derek Chisora. It is expected that Tyson will need 6-8 weeks to recover.

At the same time, the WBA appointed the holder of the WBA Regular heavyweight title DuBois as the mandatory contender for the fight with Usyk, and the IBF obliged Oleksandr to defend his belt in the fight with the Croatian Filip Hrgovic.

Earlier, promoter Frank Warren said that in case of failure to organize a fight for the title of absolute world champion, the Ukrainian should defend against Daniel Dubois. The head of Top Rank, Bob Arum, said that Hrgovych will not interfere with the unification fight between Usyk and Fury, as Usyk's next title defense should take place on the WBA line.
