The legendary promoter from Denmark passed away

The day before it became known that the legendary Danish promoter, matchmaker and manager Mogens Palle died at the age of 88 after a long battle with a cancerous tumor.

Palle began his career as a promoter in his homeland with his father in 1957. Already by 1964, he was doing business on his own and signed contracts with popular amateurs Tom Bogs and Borje Krogh. In 1972, Bogs fought world champion and legend from Argentina Carlos Monzon, and the boxing evening was held in Copenhagen. Tom suffered an early defeat in the 5th round.

Under the tutelage of Mogens was also the Ugandan Ayub Kalule, who happened to box with the stars Mike McCallum and Ray Leonard.

Among the other wards of Palle, the brothers Bredal, Bo Jacobsen, Anders Eklund, Brian Nielsen, Thomas Damgaard, Mads Larsen, Rudi Markussen and, of course, Mikkel Kessler, especially stood out.

Despite his venerable age and serious illness, Mogens officially ended his career as a promoter only this spring after a boxing show on April 22 in Copenhagen.

In 2008, Mogens Palle was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
