American lightweight representative (up to 61,2 kg) Keyshawn Davis (10-0, 7 KOs) discussed a potential bout against the WBO junior welterweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs).
"Let me be honest. Teofimo told me, 'Get an interim title at 140 pounds, and we can make the fight happen this year.' It was on camera, so we'll see if Teo sticks to his word.
I want to fight Teofimo Lopez. I know that Navarrete will get the WBO in the lightweight division. Of course, I'd be ready to go for the belt with him, but Teofimo is the one I want to fight," said Davis.
Keyshawn Davis and Teofimo Lopez last entered the ring on the same day—February 8th in Las Vegas, USA. Keyshawn won by technical knockout against Jose Pedraza (29-6-1, 14 KOs), and Lopez defended his title by unanimous decision against Jemaine Ortiz (17-2-1, 8 KOs). Currently, Teofimo has no opponent, while Davis will face Miguel Madueno (31-2, 28 KOs) on July 6th.
On May 18th in San Diego, USA, Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs) will meet Ukrainian Denys Berinchyk (18-0, 9 KOs) for the vacant WBO lightweight title.
