Teofimo Offered Fight Against Haney, Ryan Garcia Comments on Possible Rematch

WBC champion-in-recess in the junior welterweight division (up to 63.5 kg) Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) revealed that WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) was offered a fight against him.

I was supposed to return to the ring in October in Saudi Arabia, and my next fight was supposed to be against Teo.

Turki offered him the fight, but he said he wasn’t ready,” said Haney.

Haney last fought on April 20, when he lost to Ryan Garcia. However, the result was overturned due to Ryan's doping scandal.

As for Garcia, he made it clear that he has no plans for a rematch with Haney:

“There won't be a rematch after that left hook. It's probably exhausting trying to twist reality just to avoid accepting a loss. You know, not everyone gets a participation trophy in life.

Maybe if you spent half the energy on self-improvement that you do on excuses, things would be different. But hey, making excuses is a skill too,” Garcia wrote on Twitter.
