Purse Over $2 Million and More: Teofimo's Offer to Devin Haney

WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) has revealed the details of his offer to WBC champion-in-recess Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs). According to Lopez, it was a "smart offer," but after waiting for a week, he received no response.

"I waited a week for Haney's team to respond, but they didn’t even react. We made them a solid, reasonable offer: a guaranteed $2.4 million purse and a 55/45 split of pay-per-view revenue. The fight was proposed to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

They just wasted my time. They’ve done this too many times before. I had to call it out. I was told to stay quiet while negotiations were ongoing, but I needed to bring this to light," Lopez told Little Giant Boxing.

This year, Teofimo successfully defended his title twice, defeating Jamaine Ortiz (18-2-1, 9 KOs) and Steve Claggett (39-8-2, 27 KOs).

In April, Devin Haney lost to Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) by decision. However, Garcia failed a drug test after the fight, leading to the result being overturned and the boxer receiving a one-year suspension. Shortly afterward, Haney announced a one-year hiatus from the sport, a request that the WBC granted by assigning him champion-in-recess status.
