Teofimo Lopez Announces Partnership with Canelo’s Trainer

WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) has announced that he will now train under Eddy Reynoso, who is also the coach of WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs).

Teofimo shared a photo on Twitter featuring himself, his father, and Reynoso, captioning it: "Trainer of the Year in my corner."

The American boxer later elaborated on this new collaboration.

"My father and Reynoso have been in communication, and I think this is the best option. I’m not stepping away from my father—he was actually the one who insisted I join Canelo’s camp. My father was there. It was great. Let’s see what comes of it," Lopez stated.

In 2024, Lopez had two fights, defeating Jamaine Ortiz (18-2-1, 9 KOs) in February and Steve Claggett (39-8-2, 27 KOs) in June.
