WBO Super Lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez has labeled his likely next opponent — WBC Lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson — as the most overrated boxer in the sport today. The fight between the two is expected to take place in early 2026.
“The most overrated boxer right now? I’ll say it. I think it’s Shakur Stevenson, the guy I’m going to face. I believe he’s overrated.
His style is degrading, but people hype it up like he’s really got everything. I can’t wait for our meeting in the ring, and then I’ll show the world,” Teofimo told Stories Untold.
Teofimo Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) last fought in May, scoring a unanimous decision over Arnold Barboza.
In July, Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) defeated William Zepeda by unanimous decision.
