Lopez Set to Defend His Turf Against Top Challenger

Teofimo Lopez, the former two-division champ, is set to trade leather with American Jemaine Ortiz. ESPN's Mike Coppinger has the scoop, hinting that the contract ink is nearly dry for the WBO Super lightweight belt fight.

They're eyeing February 8 in Las Vegas for the main event, just a haymaker away from Super Bowl 2024, which will also lighten up Vegas.

Back in their amateur days in 2015, Lopez outboxed Ortiz. Fast forward, and they've both had a crack at Vasiliy Lomachenko. Lopez snagged a win, but Ortiz took the L. Last time out, Lopez toppled Josh Taylor, and Ortiz chalked up a victory over Antonio Moran.
