Expert on Hrgović’s Trainer Change: "No Improvements at All"

American boxing trainer and analyst Teddy Atlas has shared a critical assessment of Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgović (18-1, 14 KOs), stating that the fighter has shown no progress despite recently switching trainers.

“Hrgović changed trainers, but it hasn’t brought any improvements. Every time we see the same thing—left jab, right hook. That’s his entire arsenal,” said Atlas.

The veteran expert expressed disappointment with Hrgović’s performance in his latest outing—a unanimous decision win over Joe Joyce—highlighting a lack of technical development and tactical variety.

“I don’t see the new trainer changing his strategy or working to broaden his technique. Filip looks exactly the same—no creativity, no new combinations.

If he doesn’t change his approach, it’s going to be hard for him to succeed at the highest level. Every top fighter has a variety of attacks and unpredictability.”

Atlas concluded with a stark warning:

“Without that, he’ll struggle to win titles and beat the best fighters in the world.”

While Hrgović got the win on paper, questions remain about whether his current style will be enough against the elite of the division.
