The rematch for the undisputed world championship in the light welterweight division (up to 63.5 kg) has been officially announced between the holder of the WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF, and IBO titles at light welterweight, Katie Taylor, and the champion of the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO in featherweight (up to 57.1 kg), Amanda Serrano.
The bout will take place on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson show on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be broadcast on Netflix.
"Finally!!! I promised my fans this rematch and wanted it to be 12 rounds of 3 minutes each. But Katie wanted 10 rounds of 2 minutes—she's the champion, so we're doing it her way.
I believe I won our first fight but didn't get the decision. This time I won’t leave it to the judges. No more nice Serrano. War mentality activated.
Thanks to Jordan, Nakisa, Jake, Mike, and Netflix for making this the biggest event in women’s boxing.
See you soon, Katie."
Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano previously met in April 2022 in New York, USA, where Taylor celebrated a split decision victory. In their last fights, Katie defeated Chantelle Cameron by majority decision in November last year, and Serrano defeated Daniela Ramos by unanimous decision in October of the same year.
