Matchroom Boxing has officially announced the rematch between former undisputed junior welterweight (up to 63,5 kg) champion Josh Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) and Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs), set for April 27th in Leeds, United Kingdom.
The boxers have already exchanged comments regarding the rematch. Catterall asserts that this confrontation is personal:
"I've wanted this fight since the moment the scores were announced in Glasgow. Some people say, 'Come on, Jack,' and that's easy to say when you're not in my shoes. I get asked several times a day, 'When are you going to fight Taylor again?'. It's not about the belts for me, it's personal, and I can't wait to get at him. I don't like him, I don't respect him, and on April 27th, I'm going to finish it," said Catterall.
Taylor responded to those who claim he's running from the rematch:
"I've never run from anyone in my life, especially not from Jack Catterall. Over the last two years, he's been running from promoter to promoter, living off my name. Jack should be careful what he wishes for because on April 27th, he's going to get beaten. I'll enjoy every second of it. See you then, Jack."
In their first encounter, which took place in February 2022, Taylor won by a majority decision.
