Talks have taken place between the teams of interim WBC super welterweight champion Vergil Ortiz and WBA interim titleholder Jaron Ennis. According to reports, the negotiations were held on Tuesday and the camps spoke for around six hours.
The parties discussed the steps needed to accelerate the process over the next 10 days and agreed to stay in close contact moving forward.
“If things were bad and there was no chance, I would tell you. Deals like this don’t get done in a day,” a person close to the process told BoxingScene.
After Ortiz’s (23-0, 21 KOs) win over Erickson Lubin, Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs) stepped into the ring. Right there, the two publicly agreed to fight each other.
