Takami Stops Rosa and Takes the Title

On 30 July at Yokohama Buntai in Yokohama, Japan, WBA (World) light flyweight (up to 49 kg) champion Erick Rosa (8‑1, 2 KOs) faced Japan’s Kyosuke Takami (10‑0, 8 KOs).

The bout ended in a stoppage win for Takami — in round 10 the Japanese challenger scored two knockdowns, after which the referee waved it off (TKO 10). It’s the first defeat of Rosa’s career.

In December, Erick Rosa beat Neyder Valdez Aguilar by unanimous decision. Kyosuke Takami stopped Toshiki Kawamitsu in April (TKO 6).
