Sulaiman Confident: Usyk and Fury to Meet on May 18

The most anticipated heavyweight event since 1999, featuring Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) vying for the title of undisputed heavyweight world champion (over 90.7 kg), was initially scheduled for February 17th. However, after Fury sustained a cut in sparring three weeks ago, the bout was postponed to May 18th. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman commented on the delay and assured that Tyson would recover by the new date.

"This is boxing. These things happen. I'm confident that now it will be an even more serious fight. After the disappointment both had to endure. So many sacrifices, so much patience, so much hard work put in, and then one cut and everything is postponed. But they're back in the gym. I spoke to Tyson a couple of days ago. He's fine, ready to continue, and May 18th will be one of the greatest events in boxing history," said Mauricio Sulaiman to BoxingSocial.

Sulaiman previously stated he would insist on the implementation of instant replay technology during the Fury-Usyk fight.
