IBF super lightweight titleholder Subriel Matias (20-1, 20 KOs) has laid out his plans for the coming years and commented on a potential bout with WBO champion Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs), responding to the American's remarks that Puerto Rican fighters are soft.
"This year, if all goes well, we plan to have two fights. Next year, we aim for at least three and to keep working. Teofimo? They will talk about it until they put him in front of me. When that happens, my job is to shut him up, that's it. I'll make him go away," Subriel stated.
Matias last entered the ring in November of the previous year against Shakhram Giyasov (23-1, 20 KOs). After the 5th round, the Uzbek fighter withdrew due to an injury. In February, Teofimo Lopez successfully defended his title against Jemain Ortiz (17-2-1).
Insider Julius Julianis previously reported that Matias's next opponent would be Elvis Rodriguez (15-1-1, 13 KOs).
