IBF champion in the first light welterweight (up to 63.5 kg) division, Subriel Matias, is ready to face Teofimo Lopez and addressed his father:
'He's a coward. He says he offered me a fight, but he understands why he did that – because I recently fought and won't be ready for him. If he's a man of his word, he'll agree to fight me.
And a message to his father – stop spewing so much nonsense. If he wants to fight me – he can. There are dates for this, there's April, March. If he wants to face me – stop being a coward.
Stop talking rubbish and make it happen that he faces me,' said Matias.
Earlier, it was reported that Lopez and Matias were in negotiations, but the information was not confirmed. However, the information about Teofimo's next opponent being Jamaine Ortiz has been confirmed. The parties have nearly agreed on a fight on February 8th in Las Vegas for the WBO title.
Matias secured victory over Shohjahon Ergashev at the end of November.
