WBC Lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (23-0, 11 KO) was asked if he is ready to extend his contract with Matchroom Boxing and promoter Eddie Hearn.
“I do what I want. I’m in a spot where I can make any move I choose in boxing.
And I like Eddie Hearn—he’s one of the best promoters in the sport—so I’d love Eddie to be part of my journey.
But only if it makes sense. Right now it does make sense, and in the future, if it still makes sense, I’ll be happy to keep working with Eddie.
Mayweather Promotions? When you’re one of the best fighters in the world, everybody wants to be on your team. I respect Floyd Mayweather—that’s my guy. Of course I’d look at that option. I’d love to. He’s one of the greatest fighters ever, and having him on my team would be incredible,” Stevenson said.
Stevenson’s deal with Matchroom runs until 12 July, when he steps into the ring against WBC interim lightweight champion William Zepeda.
