Stevenson vs. Cordina Fight Canceled

Matchroom Boxing has announced that the bout between WBC lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) and Joe Cordina (17-1, 9 KOs) has been canceled due to a hand injury sustained by Stevenson.

Stevenson immediately underwent surgery and is expected to return to the ring in early 2025.

The fight was initially scheduled for October 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the undercard for the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol event.

In July, Shakur Stevenson defeated Artem Harutyunyan (12-2, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision. Joe Cordina last fought in May, losing by technical knockout in the 8th round to Anthony Cacace (22-1, 8 KOs), which resulted in him losing the IBO super featherweight title (up to 59 kg).
