Shakur Stevenson, the mandatory challenger for the WBC lightweight belt, called out the division's undisputed champion, Devin Haney, after defeating Shuichiro Yoshino. This challenge comes before Haney faces Vasyl Lomachenko.
The American boxer has previously expressed confidence that his fellow countryman will easily triumph over the Ukrainian boxer, after which Stevenson hopes to secure a bout with Haney. Furthermore, Stevenson is convinced of his own success in a potential clash with the undisputed champion.
“Tell him to come on. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I swear to God. I’ve been waiting for that for a long time. Me and Devin been in the ring with each other for years. I always got the best of Devin,”
“I think it’s gonna be easy work. I think I’m gonna smoke him. I think I’m gonna shock everybody by smoking him and making it a real easy fight. Everybody is gonna be like, ‘Damn, you is who you say you is,’” The Ring quotes Stevenson as saying.
