Stevenson Throws Down the Challenge to Barbosa

WBC lightweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) Shakur Stevenson has issued a challenge to super lightweight boxer (up to 140 lbs) Arnold Barbosa.

"We could make the next fight... Will you come down to lightweight? If yes, let's do this and stop all the trolling," Shakur wrote on Twitter.

However, it seems Barbosa is not keen on dropping weight.

"Come down to lightweight? I box at super lightweight, was asked if I'm ready to fight you. I'm ready if you come up to my weight. Of course," Arnold replied.

Stevenson's response was sharp.

"Exactly, n****r. So stop calling my damn name. I fight at lightweight and am looking to move to bigger fights. You bring nothing to the table. No one knows who you are, you don't sell fights... Don't mention my name if you really ain't about it, n****r! Mind your business, man," Shakur retorted.

Shakur last boxed in late fall of 2023, winning by judges' decision against Edwin De Los Santos. Afterward, he announced his retirement, followed by a statement about his return to boxing.

Barbosa has already fought in 2024, defeating Xolisani Ndongeni by a technical knockout.
