Shannon Briggs Compares Usyk to Holyfield

American ex‑champion Shannon Briggs weighed in on how a fight might have unfolded between Evander Holyfield and undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk — he’s just different, and fighters today are different. They throw more punches now; the game has changed: it’s more about endurance. And Holyfield — he’s a machine. Back then it was more about craft; now it’s conditioning.

You can be technical for four, five, six, seven rounds, but if your opponent is pressing and you can’t stop it—it’s like an engine overheating. You lose and you go through hell.

And they keep coming forward, like Usyk — he keeps coming. In the 12th round he’s still letting his hands go like it’s the first. No one else in the history of boxing could do that,” Briggs said.

On 19 July Oleksandr Usyk (24‑0, 15 KOs) knocked out Daniel Dubois in round five to become a three‑time undisputed champion.
