WBC lightweight champion (up to 135 lbs) Shakur Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs) has responded to WBC super lightweight titleholder (up to 140 lbs) Devin Haney's (31-0, 15 KOs) claim that he was ready to face Shakur even when he was in the lightweight division.
"The boy living in fantasies. First, he says he lost weight, and then, that we could have fought. Which one is it, really?
Boy, you said your goals for the year were to beat Loma and move up to super lightweight. You can fool the public, but you can't fool me because I can see it all over your face," Shakur wrote on Twitter.
Haney, the former undisputed champion at lightweight, was then a potential opponent for Shakur, but Devin decided to move up a weight class to super lightweight.
On April 20th, Devin Haney is set to enter the ring against Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) in New York, USA.
Stevenson's last fight was in November when he defeated Edwin De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) by decision. It was after this victory that Shakur became the WBC lightweight champion.
