WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) is done playing nice. In a fiery outburst, the undefeated American called out both potential opponent William Zepeda (33-0, 27 KOs) and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya, expressing frustration over how he’s been treated in ongoing fight talks.
“You know what? F*** the money. Respect me as a man. Me and my team pushed for this because we want the fight. So stop lying, stop whining—let’s make it happen already.
Oscar De La Hoya and William Zepeda—you guys like to play dirty, huh? Well, I’m ready to fight, you bastards,” Stevenson posted.
The WBC had previously ordered negotiations for a mandatory title clash between Stevenson and Zepeda. However, the bout has been clouded by financial tension. Under certain terms reportedly tied to Turki Alalshikh’s involvement, Stevenson could stand to lose up to 70% of the purse initially offered—something that’s clearly fueling his fury.
