Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) may face Floyd Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) in his next bout.
According to Hearn, they have made a "significant offer" to the 22-year-old Schofield and are optimistic he will accept the fight, which could take place on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Schofield himself addressed the potential matchup on Twitter, confirming no issues in finalizing the deal.
“We’ve already told them what we want. The deal is done,” Schofield wrote.
In July, Shakur Stevenson secured a unanimous decision victory over Artem Harutyunyan (12-2, 7 KOs). He was initially scheduled to fight Joe Cordina (17-1, 9 KOs) on October 12, but a hand injury forced him to withdraw. Stevenson was later linked to William Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs), but Zepeda also suffered an injury in his most recent fight.
On November 2, Floyd Schofield defeated Rene Giron (20-4, 13 KOs) via unanimous decision.
