Shakur Stevenson’s Next Opponent: Three Options on the Table

WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (23-0, 11 KOs) has outlined his next steps and possible opponents.

Stevenson confirmed that he has one fight left on his contract with Matchroom Boxing and would prefer it to be against WBC interim champion William Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs) or WBA titleholder Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs).

If neither of those fights materializes, Stevenson is open to facing Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs), who recently impressed in his bout against Davis.

"I don’t want to get into contract details, but I have one fight left with Matchroom. It should either be against William Zepeda or 'Tank' (Gervonta Davis). But from what I hear, Tank is looking to fight someone else.

If those guys aren’t available, I might even change my plan and ask for a fight with Lamont Roach. I think it’s the right option. I have a good relationship with Lamont—we’re friends. I’ve known him for years.

What he did against Gervonta Davis was incredible. He put on a great performance, and I’d love to prove that I’m on another level," Stevenson said.

On February 22, Stevenson successfully defended his WBC title against Josh Padley, scoring three knockdowns before securing a TKO in the ninth round.
