Shakur and Roach Agree to Fight — Condition Named

WBA Super Featherweight Champion Lamont Roach revealed that he may face WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson.

“I think, aside from the rematch [with Gervonta Davis], the best fight for me — and for the whole division — is me against Shakur Stevenson.

To be honest, he also said he’d take this fight. We talked, we actually sat down together and agreed that we’ll make it happen,” Roach told Pro Box.

Meanwhile, Stevenson made it clear on social media that he is ready for the matchup.

“Same energy, champ. If the other fight doesn’t happen, we’ll make it happen, brother,” Shakur wrote.

In March, Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) fought to a draw with WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis. A rematch was supposed to take place in August, but Roach himself confirmed it would most likely not happen due to a lack of clarity from Davis’ team.

On July 12, Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) successfully defended his title against interim WBC Lightweight Champion William Zepeda, earning a unanimous decision victory.
