Shakur Stevenson Doubts Lomachenko's Return

WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) is convinced that IBF and IBO titleholder Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) will not return to the ring.

"He will retire. Lomachenko isn't trying to be in big fights, so why stay in the sport?" Stevenson wrote.

In May, Lomachenko knocked out George Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) in the 11th round, capturing the IBO title previously held by Kambosos, as well as the vacant IBF lightweight title (up to 61.2 kg).

The Ukrainian was in negotiations for a unification bout with WBA champion Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs), but the parties couldn't reach an agreement. Subsequently, Lomachenko's manager, Egis Klimas, announced that Vasyl would not return to the ring before the end of 2024.
