Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn has clarified the current state of his promotional partnership with American star Shakur Stevenson, amid speculation about the future of their collaboration.
“It’s a very simple situation,” Hearn explained.
“We’ve got a two-fight deal — me, Turki Alalshikh, and Shakur Stevenson.
July 12 will be the final fight under that agreement. But I hope we’ll be Shakur’s promoters for the rest of his career.
I think he’s one of the best fighters in the world.”
Hearn added that the focus is on winning the upcoming bout before making any long-term decisions:
“Hopefully we beat Zepeda on July 12, and then move on to another big fight.”
Earlier, Shakur Stevenson publicly apologized to Turki Alalshikh, signaling that relationships behind the scenes remain important in determining his next steps.
