WBC Lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson shared what factor must become decisive in his confrontation against Teofimo Lopez. He also spoke about the stylistic characteristics regarding him and his opponent.
“We have awkward styles for each other. He won’t win by constantly coming forward. He will try to work off the back foot and force me to come to him myself. That style is what he will impose on me, something unusual for me.
In turn, I do the same thing. So we are in a sense similar in style. His style is a bad matchup for me, and mine is a bad matchup for him.
Execution decides everything: who steps out on fight day in their best shape, who will be maximally focused and ready to do everything to win. That is the one who will win the fight,” shared Shakur.
The bout will take place on January 31 in New York, USA. The belt currently held by Teofimo will be on the line. For Stevenson, this will be a debut in the Junior Welterweight division.
