Serhii Bohachuk Aims to Face Winner of Madrimov vs. Ortiz

Manny Robles, trainer of Ukrainian super welterweight Serhii Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs), has responded to the cancellation of the bout between his fighter and Israil Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs).

Robles expressed skepticism over the timing, noting how convenient it was for Madrimov to suddenly have an excuse to avoid the December 21 fight with Bohachuk. Nonetheless, he affirmed their readiness to face the replacement opponent and expressed a desire to challenge the winner of the February 22 bout between Madrimov and interim WBC champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. (22-0, 21 KOs).

In place of Madrimov, British boxer Ishmael Davis (13-1, 6 KOs) will step in to fight Serhii Bohachuk. The match is scheduled for December 21 on the undercard of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Previously, Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn explained the reasons behind the fight's cancellation and why Ishmael Davis was chosen as Madrimov's replacement.
