Ukrainian super welterweight Serhii Bohachuk (25-2, 24 KOs) spoke about sparring with WBC and WBO champion in his weight class, American Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs).
– Let’s imagine you’ll be fighting for the world title against the winner of the Fundora–Spence bout. How would you describe these boxers?
– If I were to predict who wins that matchup, I believe Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) will come out on top. I had a very interesting sparring session with him. I know this boxer well—we sparred a lot in the past.
Fundora is extremely powerful and fast. Anyone who hasn’t boxed him might not see his potential at first glance. Let me share a story. Before our first sparring session, I thought it would be easy to handle Fundora.
From the outside, he looks skinny—really skinny—and then when you step into the ring with him, it’s a totally different experience. We would do eight-round sparring sessions, trading blow for blow. We basically went at it, exchanging hard shots. He takes a punch well and can also deliver shots instantly.
He has a huge reach. A fight with him would be very interesting for me, and I’m certain fans would enjoy watching it.
Bohachuk’s previous bout saw him stop Ishmael Davis via sixth-round TKO.
