Former world champion Sergio Mora shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs).
“I’ve said it for years: a good big man beats a good small man. That’s how it always works in boxing. But after Canelo’s last performance... he struggled to close the distance against a taller fighter who didn’t engage in exchanges. And let’s be honest — Canelo is no longer the same. He’s had over 65 fights, he’s been boxing since he was 15. There’s wear and tear, injuries. He could grow old overnight.
Believe it or not, he’s younger than Crawford, but Terence has far fewer miles on him. Sure, he could suddenly look his age, but I like him. He’s tough, puts on weight smartly, and looks bigger than Canelo — at least in height and shoulder width.
In my opinion, the fight will go the distance. I don’t think Canelo gets out of it unscathed. He’ll take bruises and scratches, but win by decision,” Mora said.
The fight between Saul Alvarez and Terence Crawford for the undisputed super middleweight championship will take place on September 13 in Las Vegas, USA. The event will be streamed live on Netflix.
