Senchenko Planned a Comeback Fight in Donetsk

Former world champion and now a trainer of professional boxers, Ukrainian Vyacheslav Senchenko revealed he planned to make a comeback fight in his hometown Donetsk. However, the war intervened.

- The toughest fight of your career?

- The fight against Frederic Klose for the WBA Intercontinental Champion title.

- The easiest fight of your career?

- Against Zoran Didanovic. It was somewhere in the middle of my career.

- What's cooler for you: participating in the Olympics or fighting for a world champion title among professionals?

- Personally, for me, fighting for a professional world champion title is cooler than the Olympics.

- A victory in the ring you are most proud of?

- The victory over Ricky Hatton. I consider it my coolest and most vivid win.

- What didn’t you manage to do in your boxing career?

- I didn't have the opportunity to fight in the USA. Also, because of the war in Donbass, I didn't get back into the ring after losing to Kell Brook. I really wanted to prove to all the skeptics that I had learned from that loss and could return to a high level. Unfortunately, the war broke my plans.

- Your favorite boxer?

- Oscar De La Hoya, - said Senchenko.

Vyacheslav Senchenko faced Kell Brook in August 2013 in the UK, a year after knocking out Ricky Hatton there. Brook won by technical knockout in the 4th round. After that, Senchenko fought three more times – two wins by knockout and one by decision. However, his last two fights took place in Brovary and Kyiv in 2014 and 2015 due to Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014. Now, Senchenko is a coach for Ukrainian welterweight and Ready To Fight ambassador Karen Chukhadzhyan.
