Former champion and current coach of Ready To Fight ambassador Karen Chukhadzhyan, Vyacheslav Senchenko, shared his thoughts with Tribuna.com on the upcoming fight between Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs) and Mexican David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs).
– I believe that changing weight classes won't affect Benavidez. He has quite good metrics for this weight class. He's got the height, the reach, and his boxing class is high. Therefore, I expect him to be one of the leaders in the light heavyweight division.
Gvozdyk is a very experienced boxer. It makes no sense to give him a lot of easy fights (upon returning). With his current experience and skill, he's ready to fight for a championship title. I don't think it was necessary to delay bringing him to this fight. No, this is a good chance. And in his place, perhaps, any boxer would take the opportunity to fight for the title.
– Who would you call the favorite?
– I think Benavidez. Although I don't believe it will be an easy fight for him against Oleksandr. In my opinion, it will be a tense fight, very challenging for Benavidez.
But thanks to the fact that Benavidez hasn't had such breaks as Oleksandr has had in his career. And he is now, perhaps, in better shape. So, I still give a slight preference to Benavidez, said Senchenko.
The Gvozdyk vs. Benavidez fight will be for the WBC interim light heavyweight title (up to 79.4 kg).
