"We'll meet in May." Possible next opponent for Inoue
Fernando Beltran, the promoter for mandatory WBC second-lightest-weight contender Luis Nery, revealed that a potential bout against champion Naoya Inoue could take place in May 2024.
"If Naoya performs well in his next fight, we will definitely meet him in May. It will be a very good fight. I genuinely believe Nery is one of the best fighters, if not the best, in the second-lightest weight class. I think Naoya will be waiting for Luis, and I believe Luis will win," said Beltran.
The upcoming fight between Tapales and Inoue, scheduled for December 26th in Tokyo, will determine the status of the undisputed champion. The winner will be obliged to defend the titles against Nery.
