Title Shot No. 2? Another Champion Ready for Pacquiao

The WBA “regular” welterweight champion Rolando Romero says he’s ready to face 46‑year‑old eight‑division legend Manny Pacquiao.

A Hall‑of‑Famer on my résumé—who wouldn’t want that? Easiest way to get into the Hall yourself, right?

We can make it happen. The fans will love it; that’s why it makes sense right now.

You know, it’s a blessing when legends call you out. If a legend wants to fight you, that says something. And it’s not just about a belt… it’s because I can sell the fight, and I’m on his level. That shows my real potential.

It’s not about the money. Everyone chases the money… I’m not the guy who boxes for cash, and I think I’ve proved that plenty of times already.

Pacquiao–Barrios was a close fight. I’m not taking anything away from Mario Barrios, but I personally thought Pacquiao won. A lot of people did. Barrios definitely took only the last three rounds; to me, Pacquiao grabbed the rest,” Romero said.

In July 2025, Pacquiao (62‑8‑3, 39 KOs) returned from a four‑year hiatus to box a draw with WBC champion Mario Barrios. Romero (17‑2, 13 KOs) last fought in a decision victory over Ryan Garcia.
