Malik Scott, the trainer of American heavyweight Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs), commented on the victory of undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) in his bout against Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and expressed confidence that the rematch will be even more successful for the Ukrainian.
"Fury gave Usyk some tough rounds, and at one point, I thought if nothing changed, Fury might win, but Usyk found a way to win again.
Usually, my firm opinion forms right after the fight, and now I see Usyk's victory much clearer. But we're dealing with Fury, he can come into the ring next time 30 pounds heavier, or 30 pounds lighter, but either way, regardless of what weight he comes in at, regardless of how big he is, if I were just a betting man, I would say Usyk will win much more confidently than he did in the first fight.
I believe Usyk will win by stoppage. I thought the first fight would be a knockout victory for Usyk, I thought it would happen between rounds 7 and 10," said Scott.
On the night of May 19, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Usyk is the first undisputed champion of this division since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in their rematch.
