Sam Goodman Suffers Relapse, Withdraws from Inoue Fight

The scheduled bout between Japan’s undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (28–0, 25 KOs) and Australia’s Sam Goodman (19–0, 8 KOs) has been called off.

Goodman reportedly suffered a recurrence of an eye injury and is forced to pull out of the fight. The Australian boxer is set to undergo surgery, according to a statement by No Limit Boxing.

No Limit Boxing regrets to inform that Sam Goodman has been forced to withdraw from his fight against Inoue, scheduled for January 24, due to a recurrence of an eye injury.

We wish Sam a complete and speedy recovery, and we will provide an update on the situation in the near future,” the company stated.

Inoue’s new opponent will be South Korea’s Kim Ye Jun (21–2–2, 13 KOs). The fight will go on as planned in Tokyo, Japan, on January 24.
