A video recently surfaced online showing American junior welterweight boxer Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) initiating a street fight. The champion on leave threw a punch from behind his friend, sparking a brawl. As the police sirens sounded, Haney was the first to flee the scene.
Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs), a former opponent of Haney, was quick to react.
"He couldn’t even drop a civilian. You also claimed to be a great role model. You really hit a guy while your entire crew jumps on him. That looks pretty cowardly to me.
I wonder what the commission would do if it were me fighting someone and it got caught on camera… The thing is, he hits so softly that maybe they’d turn a blind eye and just call it a game. Who knows," Garcia wrote on Twitter.
