American super lightweight boxer Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) shared in an interview with The MMA Hour that he has reached out to UFC President Dana White regarding a match against UFC bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley.
"I guarantee I'll beat Sean O'Malley, yes, in MMA. My guard is a wrestler; I've fought him. I'm strong and in insane shape. Our fight in boxing wouldn't be fair. I know I'd knock him out in boxing. Honestly, to test myself in MMA. He won't beat me. I'll destroy Sean O'Malley in the UFC. I've already written to Dana. I've spoken to people who know Dana to ask him if we'll make it happen. Pay me, and I'll be in the UFC," Garcia stated.
Devin Haney, Garcia's future opponent in a boxing match for the WBC belt on April 20, commented on this challenge:
-Do you think he can beat Sean?
-Hell no.
-No? In MMA.
-No.
-Will Sean give him a boxing match?
-No.
-No chance?
Of course. Sean is an excellent MMA fighter, Ryan is the same in boxing.
O'Malley has already responded to Garcia's initial fight proposal, suggesting the fight would last only minutes.
