Ryan Garcia’s New Opponent Revealed: It’s Not Cruz

The head of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, Turki Alalshikh, has announced a boxing event in the USA, scheduled for May 2025, featuring Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) and WBC super lightweight champion on recess Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).

Contrary to earlier reports, Garcia’s opponent will not be Isaac Cruz (26-3-1, 18 KOs), but instead Rolando Romero (16-2, 13 KOs). Devin Haney, meanwhile, is set to face Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs).

The event will also showcase an African heavyweight showdown between Congolese boxer Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) and Nigerian fighter Efe Ajagba (20-1, 14 KOs). The winner of this fight will become a mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title.

The Ring magazine is thrilled to announce its first-ever boxing night in the USA, scheduled for May 2025. The event will be held in collaboration with the video game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (which inspired the event’s name) and SNK Games.

The card features three headline bouts:

– Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero;

– Devin Haney vs. Jose Carlos Ramirez;

– Martin Bakole vs. Efe Ajagba.

Further details, including the venue and exact date, will be announced soon. Stay tuned,” Turki wrote.
