Ryan Garcia’s Father on Potential Opponent: “Teofimo Lopez and Other Surprising Names”

Henry Garcia, the father of American boxer Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs), who is currently serving a suspension due to a doping violation, shared insights into his son's return to the ring.

"It's guaranteed. Ryan is coming back in April. It's happening. He and Oscar De La Hoya are already on the same page. They've talked it over, and it’s set. We'll have a solid fight lined up right after his return. They’re already working on it. They’re in touch with Ryan.

In the meantime, there’s a warm-up match, and Dubai will be the stage for it. He’s arranged something, and it looks like it’s happening. It’ll be in Dubai. His real comeback, the main event, will be in April, but this will be an exhibition bout for now.

An opponent? There are a few candidates, and one of them is Teofimo Lopez, along with some other names that’ll surprise. This is going to happen. Just like we talked about with Haney and ‘Tank,’ it’ll happen. Ryan is incredibly hard to beat when he’s at his best. Without any conditions or restrictions, beating Ryan isn't easy. He’s very smart, but he also packs a powerful punch. When he’s at 100%, he can take down anyone," Henry Garcia said in an interview with Fighthype.

As a reminder, in April, Garcia defeated Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) by a judges' decision, though the result was later overturned due to Garcia’s failed doping test, leading to a one-year suspension. In January, Garcia is set to have an exhibition bout against Frenchman Jaber Zayani (18-0, 11 KOs) in Dubai, UAE.
