Ryan Garcia Disqualified!

Representatives of American boxer Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) have reached a settlement with the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC).

Due to a failed doping test ahead of his fight on April 20 against WBC junior welterweight champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), Garcia has agreed to the following terms:

– A one-year suspension from boxing;

– A $1.1 million deduction from his purse for the Haney fight and a $10,000 fine;

– The Garcia-Haney fight declared a no-contest.

Thus, Devin Haney is once again officially an undefeated fighter, boasting 31 wins, 15 of which by knockout, and 0 losses. Notably, before the fight, Ryan failed to make weight and did not compete for Haney's WBC title. Garcia won the bout but failed a test conducted the day before the fight, with the banned substance Ostarine found in his system. His B sample also tested positive. Haney's team demanded Garcia's disqualification and the nullification of the fight's outcome.

Haney's next fight will be against Spaniard Sandor Martin (42-3, 15 KOs). The promotional rights were won by Top Rank. The purse split will be 70-30 in Haney's favor, with 10% of Top Rank's bid traditionally going to the WBC.
