Ryan Garcia defeats Oscar Duarte by knockout!

American boxer Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) secured victory over Oscar Duarte (26-2-1, 21 KOs) with a knockout in the eighth round.

This bout marked Ryan's comeback after his defeat by Gervonta Davis in the spring of 2023. Neither boxer had been knocked down until the eighth round when Garcia landed a left hook, causing a knockout. Although Duarte rose at the count of "ten," the referee stopped the fight.

This is Oscar Duarte's second defeat since 2019, following 11 consecutive knockout victories during that period. Both fighters weighed in at their career heaviest, with Garcia at 64.9 kg and Duarte at 64.8 kg, exceeding the 63.5 kg limit for the first super-lightweight division. The fight took place at an intermediate weight, but Garcia states he plans to continue boxing in the first super-lightweight division.
