American junior welterweight (up to 63,5 kg) Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) commented on his victory over WBC champion Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs).
"I went in there and kicked his ass. It was that simple. It was a walk in the park. Even my sparring sessions have been tougher than that fight. It was not difficult at all. Even Devin said, 'I've never been dominated so easily,'" Ryan stated.
On the night of April 21, Ryan Garcia won by majority decision against Devin Haney. Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion, as Ryan did not make the weight limit and was not eligible for the title.
It was later revealed that Garcia had failed doping tests taken the day before the fight against Haney, but according to insider Dan Rafael, the presence of one of the prohibited substances in the fighter's sample was not confirmed. The samples will be retested on May 22.
