25-year-old American boxer Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) has announced his retirement from professional boxing.
"I am officially retiring," Garcia tweeted.
In response to this tweet, insider Dan Rafael reported that the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) planned to temporarily suspend Ryan until a hearing could determine the length of his suspension and officially declare the result of his fight against WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) void.
In April, after his victory over Haney, Ryan's doping tests returned positive for Ostarine. Subsequent tests also showed positive results. The final decision regarding Garcia's career has not yet been made. Haney's team advocates for Garcia's suspension and the annulment of the fight result.
